South Asian Model Specifications

South Asian models typically meet international modeling standards, with heights ranging from 5'8" to 6'0" for women and 5'11" to 6'3" for men, lean body proportions, and distinctive facial features that reflect their ethnic heritage.

Height and Body Measurements

For female South Asian models, the standard height is generally 5'8" to 6'0" (173–183 cm), with a slim and toned physique, often with measurements around 34-24-34 inches (bust-waist-hips) for runway and editorial work. Male models typically range from 5'11" to 6'3" (180–191 cm), with lean muscle definition and proportional body structure. These specifications align with global fashion industry standards, allowing South Asian models to compete internationally.

Facial Features and Skin Tone

South Asian models are valued for their distinctive facial features, including high cheekbones, almond-shaped eyes, and well-defined jawlines. Skin tones vary widely across the region, from fair to deep brown, and models often work with makeup artists to find suitable shades for runway and editorial shoots. Unique ethnic features are increasingly celebrated in global fashion campaigns, contributing to diversity on international runways.

Career Examples

Prominent South Asian models include Yasmeen Ghauri, the first South Asian Victoria's Secret Angel and Vogue cover model, known for her long legs and runway presence; Ujjwala Raut, who has walked for top designers like Emanuel Ungaro; and rising stars like Riya Sharma and Pia Ahmed, who have appeared in London, Paris, and Berlin Fashion Weeks. Male South Asian models are also gaining recognition, though they remain underrepresented compared to female counterparts.

Professional Standards

South Asian models are expected to maintain fitness, posture, and runway walk skills, with many following strict diet and exercise routines before shows. Pre-show rituals, hydration, and skin care are emphasized to meet the high standards of international fashion weeks. Editorial models may also need versatility for photoshoots, including posing, facial expressions, and adaptability to different fashion styles.

Summary

South Asian models combine height, lean body proportions, and ethnic facial features to meet global modeling standards. With increasing representation in international fashion, these models are breaking barriers and redefining beauty norms, while adhering to professional requirements for runway, editorial, and commercial work.
