Recent Advances In Fiber Bragg Grating Sensing

Long-distance distributed fiber Bragg grating

Ultra-weak fiber Bragg grating (UWFBG) arrays can significantly enhance backscattering intensity and thereby improve DAS performance. This is achieved by creating a periodic variation in the refractive index of the fiber core, which generates a. Conventional DAS relies on Rayleigh backscattering (RBS) from standard single-mode fibers (SMFs), which inherently limits the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and sensing robustness. Fibre Bragg gratings (FBGs) have proven their high sensitivity as point sensors and accordingly received so much attention as promising candidates for distributed sensing.
