How to install a bbu optical module

To insert a BBU optical module, remove the dust-proof cap, align the module with the SFP slot, slide it in carefully, and connect the optical fiber to the correct port.

Prepare for Installation

Wear an ESD wrist strap or ESD gloves to prevent electrostatic damage to the BBU subrack.

Ensure the BB

U is powered off before inserting the optical module. Identify the correct SFP slot (SFP0/SFP1 or P1/P2) for the optical module based on your BBU model. 2.

Insert the Optical Module

Remove the dust-proof cap from the optical module and the corresponding BBU slot. Lower the puller (if present) on the module. Slide the optical module gently into the SFP slot until it clicks into place.

Raise the puller to secure the module. 3.

Connect the Optical Fiber

Identify the TX and RX ports on the BBU and the corresponding ports on the RRU.

The T

X port on the BBU connects to the RX port on the RRU, and vice versa. Connect the optical fiber to the module's port carefully, ensuring proper alignment and avoiding bending the fiber sharply. Use fiber binding straps to secure the cable along the cabinet, following the BBU cable claw positions.

Install a winding pipe at the end of the fiber to protect the connector and maintain proper bend radius. 4.

Verify Connections

Ensure all cables are securely connected and routed properly to prevent stress on the fiber. Check that the module is fully seated in the slot and that the fiber is not under tension. 5.

Optional Testing

If using a BBU-emulation module, insert the SFP into the P1 or P2 port and connect the RRH cable to validate the link. Perform a link validation to confirm proper communication between the BBU and RRH. Following these steps ensures safe and correct installation of the BBU optical module, maintaining signal integrity and preventing damage to the hardware.
