A three-level (three-phase) distribution box connects the main supply to MCBs and RCCBs, distributing power safely to multiple loads with proper neutral and earth connections.

Main Components and Connections

Incoming Supply: Connect the three-phase input (L1, L2, L3) from the transformer or main supply to the MCCB (Main Circuit Breaker) input. The neutral wire should be connected to the neutral busbar, and the earth wire to the earth busbar.

Bs and RCCBs: The output of the MCCB feeds the MCBs (Miniature Circuit Breakers) for individual loads.

If RCC

Bs (Residual Current Circuit Breakers) are used, they are installed after the MCCB. For split-load boards, one RCCB can protect the left-side MCBs and another the right-side MCBs. Ensure the total RCCB rating is equal to or higher than the MCCB rating.

Load Connections: Connect each load's three-phase wires to the output of the corresponding three-pole MCB. If the load requires neutral, connect it to the neutral busbar. Connect the load's earth wire to the earth busbar.

Busbar Layout: Typically, MCBs are arranged in two rows (left and right). Each row can be connected to a separate RCCB if required. Phase colors often follow IEC standards: L1 – Brown, L2 – Black, L3 – Gray, Neutral – Blue, Earth – Green/Yellow.

Optional Split-

Load Configuration: For split-load boards, some MCBs can be connected to one RCCB and others to a second RCCB to separate critical and non-critical loads. This ensures selective protection and easier maintenance.

Safety Considerations

Always verify the current ratings of MCCB, MCBs, and RCCBs to match the load requirements. Ensure proper earthing to prevent electric shock. Neutral may be optional for purely three-phase loads but is required for mixed single-phase loads.

Electrical work should only be performed by a qualified electrician to avoid hazards. This wiring setup ensures safe and organized distribution of three-phase power to multiple loads, with protection against overloads, short circuits, and earth faults.
