ACPOE Switch Wiring

ACPOE switch wiring involves connecting power, relays, reader inputs, and communication lines according to the SK-ACPE access control specifications.

Power Connections

The ACPO

E switch (e.g., SK-ACPE) operates on 16. 5–24 volts DC and can be connected to a 12V standby battery for backup. Ensure correct polarity when connecting the red (+) and black (-) wires to avoid damage.

The unit can accommodate batteries up to 4. 0 Amp-hours for continuous operation during power loss.

Door Relay Outputs

Each door controlled by the ACPOE switch has two double-pole, double-throw relays: Latch Relays (J1/J2, terminals 1–6): Typically used to unlock doors or activate gate operators. Auxiliary Relays (J3/J4): Programmable for alarms, notifications, or other auxiliary functions. One pole of the latch relay is connected to the door lock or operator circuit, while the auxiliary relay can be configured for special conditions.

Reader Inputs

The ACPO

E switch supports two independent passageways, each with two programmable inputs: Door Monitor: Detects door open/closed status. Tamper Monitor: Detects unauthorized access to the panel.

Remote Open/

Inactive: Allows remote activation of the door.

Bell or User-

Defined Input: Optional functions based on system configuration. Reader connections typically use Wiegand output up to 40 bits, compatible with proximity, magnetic stripe, barcode, optical, or biometric readers.

Communication Wiring

For networked setups, the ACPOE switch can connect via RS-485 to link multiple panels (up to 100) or to a PC using SK-NET software. Ensure a twisted pair plus signal ground is used for RS-485 communication to maintain signal integrity.

Installation Tips

Mount the unit in a secure, sheltered location within 500 feet of the doors. Avoid electrostatic discharge (ESD) during installation. Verify all connections before powering the unit.

The LE

D indicators on the readers will flash red and green alternately when the system is ready for programming or facility code setup.

Safety Considerations

Always observe polarity when connecting power. Use appropriate wire gauge for relays and power circuits. Follow local electrical codes for conduit and grounding.

For networked or high-current installations, ensure proper isolation and surge protection to prevent damage. By following these wiring guidelines, the ACPOE switch can reliably control access points, integrate with auxiliary devices, and maintain communication with a central management system.
